Project Details

The City of Bonney Lake is working to identify proposed improvements to t

wo intersections within the City to meet current and future traffic and pedestrian demands. The public meeting will focus on the following intersections:

  • Angeline Road and Veterans Memorial Dr./Old Sumner-Buckley Hwy. E.
  • Church Lake Road E and West Tapps Highway E

Join the Bonney Lake Planning Commission to hear a presentation on these proposed intersection improvements. Following the presentation there will be an opportunity for the public to provide input on these potential intersection improvements.

Angeline Road and Veterans Memorial Dr./Old Sumner-Buckley Hwy. E.
The proposed improvements are intended to improve traffic flow and pedestrian and bicycle access through the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Angeline Road and Veterans Memorial Drive, a multi-use path on the northside of the Veteran’s Memorial Drive from Locust Avenue East to the Fennel Creek Trail and stormwater detention and treatment facilities.
The City recently secured a grant to fund the design of the improvements beginning in 2025. Construction funds have not been secured.

Church Lake Road E and West Tapps Hwy E.
The City is currently evaluating intersection improvement options to improve traffic flow and sight distance. Options include:

  • Option 1: Reconstructing the roadway to improve sight distance without the addition of any intersection controls; or
  • Option 2: Reconstructing the roadway and construction of a traffic signal without left-turn pockets; or
  • Option 3: Reconstructing the roadway and construction of a roundabout.

Design of the preferred option is scheduled to commence in the second half of 2024 or early 2025.
