City Benefits

The City offers a comprehensive, affordable employee benefits package to attract and retain qualified staff and promote a healthy, productive workforce.

Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
Benefit eligible employees that work 30 or more hours per week are offered a generous benefit package that includes medical, dental/orthodontia, and vision coverage. The city and employees cooperatively participate in a cost share program for premiums on medical and dental/orthodontia and vision coverage is covered at 100% by the city.
Employee Wellness Program

The Wellness Committee consists of staff members who promote the health and wellness activities and events developed for city employees to be well physically, mentally, and emotionally which ensures productive employees. The Wellness Committee assists in wellness events throughout the year. Wellness activities are advertised in the staff newsletter and by email, or you can contact a member of the Wellness Committee:

The City of Bonney Lake is an Association of Washington Cities (AWC )"WellCity" .

The AWC Employee Benefit Trust's annual WellCity Awards recognize members that meet nine best practice standards for employee health promotion. AWC Trust Members receive a 2% premium discount on their Regence medical premiums.

Employee Assistance Program-EAP
A confidential referral service is available without cost to regular benefit eligible employees and anyone living in their household. Coverage includes access to confidential counseling; financial, legal, and supervisory resources; critical incident response; and a robust website.

The Employee Assistance Program is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week, either online or by calling 800-570-9315.
Deferred Compensation Program – 457 Plan
To help provide for a financially secure retirement, employees may choose to contribute to a tax deferred retirement plan by setting aside some of their earnings for retirement. The amount the City contributes varies by job type, based on applicable bargaining agreement or policy.

The City uses MissionSquare to administer the plan.
Life Insurance
A term life insurance policy is provided to each benefit eligible employee as specified by the applicable bargaining agreement or policy. There is no cost to the employee.

Employees may also purchase additional supplemental insurance for themselves and their dependents as the group rates.
Long Term Disability Protection
Benefit eligible employees are provided with a long term disability policy based on a percentage of their salary as specified in the applicable bargaining agreement or policy. There is no cost to the employee.
Retirement Plan
All eligible employees must establish membership and participation in the State of Washington Department of Retirement Systems (DRS) based on the position/plan requirements. Both the employee and employer contribute to the plan as designated by the WA State Legislature.
Vacation and Sick Leave

Vacation

Benefit eligible employees accrue a generous vacation leave bank for years of services as specified in the applicable bargaining agreement or policy.

Sick

Benefit eligible employees accrue a generous sick leave bank as specified in the applicable bargaining agreement or policy.
