***Fall 2020 Distance Learning Enhancement & Activities Program (LEAP)**
As the school model for students returning to the classrooms, we too will be evolving. We are aware of the recent plan for students to return on a hybrid model mid-October. We are working with the district for a new support plan and as soon as details are finalized we will roll out that information. Thank you for your patience.  
This is a fun  small group with socialization and lots of outside activities and games! The L.E.A.P. program will replace our normal school year Before and After School program.  We will be working to provide support to the kids' "school" day in a small group setting. This will be staffed by our returning recreation staff from B&A. 
As conditions change for the kids to attend schools, we also will be adapting and changing along with what our Sumner-Bonney Lake families need for their kids. Children currently enrolled in our LEAP program will have first opportunity for any program changes as well as our regular B&A program once we are able to offer that based on the schools' schedule. 

Our office is closed to the public, but we will accept registrations by email or fax. You also can use your phone to scan the documents and send off to us - almost as good as online registration!

The City of Bonney Lake and the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District have operated a joint Recreation Program since 1991. The City of Bonney Lake took the lead in administering this program in fall 2017. Activities are offered at various Sumner-Bonney Lake School District and City of Bonney Lake facilities.

The City of Bonney Lake, in partnership with the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District, offers a variety of sports, classes and clinics for both children and adults. The Recreation Department also runs a Before & After School Activities Club at the Sumner-Bonney Lake School District elementary schools. It is the goal of the Recreation Department to serve the greater community to become lifelong participants and learners through a variety of activities.

How To Register For Activities
All programs are on hold until Phase 3. There are a variety of ways to register for our classes/leagues and other activities: by mail, fax, scan/email or walk-in. Please utilize the registration form from inside the recreation guide for registering as well as information on how to submit and pay. We do not do over the phone registration.  Your registration is not complete until payment has been received. You may also use the form below or call us and we can email you a form to print and then scan (or take a picture) and send back to us. Please include last name-program registering for in the subject line.

 *Must mail or call in payment after submitting*     Please save the document on your desktop and send and attach from your email account. Please include Participant's last name and program. This will allow us to search for your form if needed.

Fall 2020 Learning Enhancement & Activities Program (formerly B&A Program) Registration

We have retooled what we normally offer during the school year to help accommodate families in our community and comply with Department of Health guidelines.  Please read the Parent Manual for our Distance Learning Enhancement & Activities Program (L.E.A.P) in detail for all the changes and program outline.  Hours of the program are 7:00AM - 5:30PM. Kids and staff will be required to wear a mask (see details).  We will be supporting the learning model that the Sumner-Bonney Lake Schools is planning for the kids for the fall. We will be changing and adapting our program and what we offer based on what learning model the district is using at that time. Families currently enrolled with us will have first opportunity to register for each of the "next steps" we will be offering in accordance to the school schedule. 

For LEAP registration:

ALL registrants new and returning will be expected to fill out new forms. All are due at the time of registration along with payment (checklist here):

1) Registration/Parent Contact/Liability Waiver - (2 pages)
2) Covid-19 Waiver form. (1 form required per child)
3) Parent Manual & Acknowledgement form
4) Physician's Orders (if Epi-pen or inhaler is listed)
5) Sunscreen self-application permission form (if applicable)
6) Tuition & registration fee due at time of registration along with all above noted forms:
     a) $75 registration fee ( per family)
     b) $880 per month/per child

recreation@ci.bonney-lake.wa.us) Please do not email to our personal work emails.  Also, if you need a scanner many smart phones have in the "notes" feature a camera icon that will allow you to scan documents to send - how cool is that?

Specialized Recreation

The City of Bonney Lake does not currently offer any specialized recreation programs for individuals with special needs. Below is a list of nearby community resources where further information can be found regarding such programs:

End of Summer Camp 2020 **Updated August 12th

"END OF SUMMER" Day Camp for the week of Aug 31st - Sept 4th. This can be done for the whole week or day by day for this one week only. 

Please read ALL the information below and then download all registration/liability/waivers and parent manual. We are now accepting registrations for individual weeks. Have your child come and safely join in on the fun!

This summer’s camp will have a different feel. Social and physical distancing will change traditional camp activities. The health and wellness of our campers and our staff will be in the forefront of our minds. We will utilize and update guidance provided by the State of Washington and the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department throughout camp. We are ready to learn and evolve as the summer progresses. Staff and campers will need to wear face masks.

Each site will host no more than 32 campers that will be divided into groups of no more than 8 with 1-2 staff per group. Groups will be formed by grade, however siblings will be grouped together in the same group throughout the summer (at Robert Miller location). All groups will stay together throughout all weeks of camp. Outside spaces will be divided into designated areas for each group when all groups are outside at the same time. Social distancing guidelines of six feet of separation (one zebra length) will be maintained as much as possible. Camp sites are Daffodil Valley Elementary gymnasium and Robert Miller gym.

We recognize that families are approaching Covid-19 response with different levels of concern. We hope to find a proper balance where everyone has a great camp experience while following the constantly evolving guidance.

We will use the outdoors as much as possible and as safe to do so. We will provide opportunities for fun, educational games, arts and crafts, science experiments, and 30 minutes of daily reading time to replace some of our regular activities we aren’t able to provide due to social distancing guidelines.

 It will be a first come, first serve basis as space is very limited. Payment and all completed forms must be in at the time of registration in order for us to accept the paperwork. You may fax or email the packet in and then call us with payment. If you want to drop it off, give us a call and we can set it up.
You will need to download and complete all forms:

-Registration flyer & form
-Liability/parent contact form (2 pgs)
-Covid-19 waiver
-Any physicians orders for Epi or inhalers (if applicable)
-Parent Packet with acknowledgement form

Complete all documents and payment. Payment is due at the time of registration in full for weeks 1 & 2 and deposit or full payment for weeks 3 & 4 - or whatever weeks you select.

Camps run weekly for four weeks starting August 3rd.  Cost is $160 per week with a one time registration fee of $25.  ALL fees due at the time of registration for weeks 1 & 2. Camp hours are 9:00AM - 4:00PM with early drop off starting at 7:00AM and late pick up no later than 5:30PM (these are new hours).

School Delays/Weather
When there is a school closure or delay due to weather conditions, the Recreation Department's Before and After School Activity Club will likewise be affected. For example, if school is two hours late, the Before and After School Program will not open until 8:30 AM (which is two hours later than usual). If schools are closed, our program will also be closed.

Call the Sumner-Bonney Lake District Emergency Hotline at 253-891-6001 for weather related school changes or monitor local radio and television stations.

All our youth sports programs cannot run without the support of parents and community members that give of their time to help coach the kids of our community! From PeeWees to middle schoolers, these kids count on the community to support them in healthy, team based activities!

All it takes is a willingness of heart, some time (although you may already be at practices/games with your child), background clearance and 1st Aid/CPR certified!  We do our best to work around your schedule and needs! Please just indicate an interest at the time of your child's registration or just reach out to our department.
