INVESTIGATIONS & ALERTS

General Information

The investigations section is responsible for the investigation of all crimes that occur in the City of Bonney Lake. The Bonney Lake Police Department Investigations section is comprised of a Detective Sergeant, two full-time Detectives (one general and one narcotics), and two part-time investigators. The Detective Sergeant and Detective investigate cases on a full-time basis. The Detective Sergeant acts as the supervisor for the section.

Cases are generated by police officers that respond to calls, and contact from the public. After a police officer responds to a report of a crime, he/she will do the initial investigation and determine whether or not an investigator is needed to respond. If no investigator is needed, the officer will generate a report, which will be forwarded to the investigations section for follow-up if possible.

11/2/2011: DEA Bans Essential Chemicals in Synthetic Meth also called "Bath Salts"

From the Patrol Information Bulletin:
"The Drug Enforcement Administration took emergency action on Friday, October 21 2011 to ban three synthetic stimulants used to make products that are marketed at head shops and on the Web as “bath salts,” but are actually used as recreational drugs that mimic the effects of cocaine, LSD and methamphetamine. According to the DEA, these substances have the potential to be very harmful and, therefore, pose an imminent hazard to the public safety. ... The Bonney Lake Police Department will be contacting retail establishments in Bonney Lake to ensure awareness and enforcement of this new ban. Parents are encouraged to speak to their children regarding the dangers of this drug and to bring any products with banned substances to the medication disposal box located in the lobby of the public safety building."
