CODE ENFORCEMENT

Code enforcement within the City of Bonney Lake is focused on creating a healthy and safety community for all residents, businesses, and visitors.  The goal of code enforcement is to achieve voluntary compliance to the Municipal Code of the City of Bonney Lake, specifically chapters 8 and 14.

While every Request for Action recieved by the City is important, requests related to health and safety are prioritized by staff.

Concerned about possible code enforcement issue?

The first step in every code enforcement process is the completion of a Request for Action Form.  This form provides the code official with the the information they need to begin a fact based, thorough, and safety investigation into the complaint.

» Submit a Request for Action

Request for Action form  cab be submitted by email, mail or in person.  The form is available online or can be picked up at the Justice & Municipal Center, Suite 300.  Code enforcement does not replace or duplicate the powers of the Bonney Lake Police Department, if you have a life threatening emergency please call 9-1-1.

It is critical that the Request for Action include the following information:
» The property address at which the code infraction(s) is/are occurring; and
» A brief description of the possible infraction .

The Code Enforcement Process

The Request for Action form serves as a formal request for action by City staff. All complaints will be investigated and those determined to be in violation of Bonney Lake Municipal Code (BLMC) will be processed accordingly.

Typically, when a violation is found the property owner and/or person in possession of the property is notified in writing with a "Notice of Violation." This notice provides a description of the violation, the steps needed to correct the violation, and the timeline in which it is to be corrected.  If the City recieves no response or the property owner/person in possession of the property declines to voluntary comply the City may pursue civil and/or criminal charges.
