This is a non-City event.

Cascade Regional Blood Services is a not-for-profit health care organization that has been supplying blood products and specialty therapeutic services to South King & Pierce Counties for over 60 years. 

Donations are needed to maintain an adequate blood supply. Please encourage your friends and co-workers to donate blood. If you’re unable to donate, please consider finding someone to donate in your place.

Low-cost and free pet spay and neuter services are provided by the Pasado's Safe Haven non-profit organization in various locations in Pierce County.

Designing and installing your natural yard care landscape

Presented by Greg Butler, is a landscape planner that will show you how to make your landscape more “Puget Sound” friendly by reducing the need for pesticides, herbicides, unnatural fertilizers on your yard. He has simple ideas that can make less work for you and will add more beauty to your yard.

Presented by Dana Bressette, an urban horticulturist. Dana will help you choose the right plant for the right place. Native plants attract wildlife and use less water, pesticides and fertilizers and add beauty to your yard. As part of her presentation, Dana will conduct a plant walk highlighting plants in their native habitat.

Music, learning, healthy snacks and fun! All ages welcome.

Featuring Tacoma EnviroChallenger John Inch and Health Department educator Walt Burdsall, these events will feature hands-on learning and fun for the whole family. Activities include sing-along songs about water, slugs, trees and Puget Sound. Enjoy interactive demonstrations about backyard composting. Learn about bugs and slugs and get to know them up close. Healthy garden snacks will be served as you learn about the new City of Tacoma curbside food waste recycling program.

This annual event is a favorite of dogs and their owners, featuring exhibits, dog products, adoptable dogs, and prize drawings. Great dogs to see and greet, so bring yours (on a leash, please), then enjoy the off-leash area too!

Micro-chipping will be offered by Metro Animal Services for a discounted rate of $30.00 (for canines only). Events include 'Best Costume', 'Who’s your Daddy' (a look a like contest), and lots more! 


Bark for Life 6k Fun Run

Take part in the 6 Legs/6k Fun Run/Walk for 'Bark for Life'. Proceeds benefit the Sumner-Bonney Lake Relay for Life Team. Registration forms are available below.

Holiday Giving Tree & Food Drive

It is that time of year again - tis the season to give! The Police Department is gearing up the annual giving tree and food drive.

FOOD DRIVE
Food donations may be dropped off at the Bonney Lake Public Safety Building Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All food items are given to the Bonney Lake Food Bank, Bread of Life Food Bank and Senior Citizens. The food drive will end December 9, 2011.

GIVING TREE TOY DRIVE
The Giving Tree is a program set up to help families in need in the local Bonney Lake area. Donations of NEW toys will be accepted Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Public Safety Building.

In addition to toy donations we will also be setting up a Giving Quilt with information about individual children and their wishes. Stay tuned for further information when the gift tags will be available to fill.

Families in Sumner and Bonney Lake are invited to celebrate the holidays with this FREE annual event. Enjoy a traditional holiday meal with turkey, gravy, potatoes, veggies, pie, hot drinks, and more. There will also be musical performances from our award winning Sumner High Jazz Ensemble, caroling from Mane Stage Theater, as well as other holiday performances. Kids can enjoy the 'kids corner' with games, crafts, movies, and a visit with Santa! The event also provides non-perishable food donations for families.

Annual Tree Lighting, Food Drive

The Bonney Lake Kiwanis Club will again sponsor the annual Tree Lighting and Food Drive activities on Saturday, December 3rd beginning at 6:00pm at the Public Safety Building. Come join the fun!

Activities and music, refreshments, candy, pictures with Santa, and the annual tree lighting ceremony. Drop food donations off from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in front of the Food Bank, which is adjacent to the Public Safety Building and the Community Christmas Tree. And be sure to join us for our first holiday parade! Due to a scheduling conflict the parade has been cancelled for this year. The rest of the festivities will take place as listed above.

Shop With a Cop

Donation Drive: Tuesday, November 15th - Target Store

“Shop with a Cop” is a program that happens every December where the Bonney Lake Police Department teams up with Target to provide gift cards for children that need extra assistance. The children get to ride in police cars and fire trucks to Target where they are teamed up with a Cop to help spend their giftcard.

Donations are greatly needed to help assist in covering the cost of the gift cards for kids selected by their school counselors. Any size donation is greatly appreciated. Donations are accepted at the Bonney Lake Police Department (
get directions) from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday through December 9th. On November 15th, BLPD Officers will be at Target from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. giving out information and accepting donations of gift cards and toys, as well.

Thank you to the Bonney Lake Target for their generous time and donations!
 
Lake Tapps Trash Bash

This is a non-city sponsored event. Help local volunteers keep the lake clean by donating your time to help pick up trash while the lake level is down. Buckets will be distributed on Friday, January 27th from 2pm to 9pm at the Bonney Lake Home Depot. For more information visit:

The Native Plant Salvage Alliance invites everyone to take advantage of the digging to occur at the WSU Experimental forest in Bonney Lake.

You will be able to apply for standard processing (4-6 weeks) or pay an additional $60 for expedited processing (2-3 weeks, door-to-door). Passport Day in the USA events are being held at Regional Passport Agencies and many Passport Acceptance Facilities across the country, including Bonney Lake. If you’ve been waiting to get your passport, this is the time!

The Bonney Lake Municipal Court will process passport applications on March 10th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at the Justice Center, 9002 Main Street East (Directions). Passport applications and forms are available at the Justice Center and online at www.Travel.State.gov.

The Bonney Lake Police Department Citizen's Academy is a free, 7-week classroom based course that includes hands on learning. Our goal is to foster a greater understanding with the community through education. We also have a lot of fun!

During Spring Clean Up Week, D.M. Disposal picks up extra garbage, recycling and/or yard waste and one appliance at no additional charge for customers inside Bonney Lake city limits.

Spring Clean Up is available to customer accounts inside the city limits of Bonney Lake only. This offer does not apply to Murrey's Disposal customers with accounts in unincorporated Pierce County.

Clean Up Week Details & Requirements
 
  • Curbside pick-up only (no alley access).
    • Up to 3 extra cans/bags of garbage and/or yard waste.
    • Additional cans/bags must weigh no more than 45 lbs when full.
    • Extra cans or bags of garbage or yard waste should be placed for curb-side pick up by 7:00 am on Thursday, April 12th.
  • One (1) appliance per household.
    • Acceptable appliances include: Refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, dishwashers, freezers, hot water heaters, washers or dryers.
    • Appliances must be placed for pickup by the morning of Monday, April 9th.

Bonney Lake volunteers will meet in the same location again for 2012, at the WSU Forest entrance behind Fred Meyer & Regal Cinemas (same location as last year), on the South side of SR 410 between S Prairie Rd and 214th Ave E.

As a caring community, the Sumner School District, the Bonney Lake Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Bonney Lake, with the support of the U.S. Department of Education, are pleased to collaborate on Family Fun Fest. This new and exciting event will promote healthy families and communities through free, fun, fitness-related activities for children and families. There is no cost to participate in this event - all activities will be free of charge.

Building on the March Community Summit theme, "The Heart of the Matter," and Bonney Lake Chamber of Commerce’s "Get Fit" initiative, local businesses, family services providers, and government agencies will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on Bonney Lake community services. Sumner School representatives from across the district will be running a variety of games and mini tournaments to showcase physical education and all the fun ways there are for kids to get fit.
