LarsenIt is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce Bonney Lake Officer James Larsen passed away today during a snowmobiling incident. At approximately 1:30pm, Officer Larsen was snowmobiling with three friends above the City of Cle Elum in Kittatas County when they were struck by an avalanche. Officer Larsen did not survive. Also killed in the accident was the son of a longtime Bonney Lake Public Works employee.

Bonney Lake Police Officers responded to the scene and escorted Officer Larsen to the Kittitas County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Officer Larsen worked over 14 years with Bonney Lake Police after serving as a Police Officer for the City of Yelm. Officer Larsen leaves behind his parents and two sisters.

There will be a memorial site at the Bonney Lake Police Department Flag Pole. Mayor Neil Johnson has ordered all city flags to be flown at half-mast in honor of Officer Larsen. Chief Powers will have all staff wear mourning bands until further notice. Funeral information will be provided at a later time.

        My son in law was jerry white or Jay some called him. He spent time at our house in Enumclaw while they were on highschool. James was my favotite. I’m so deeply sorry for your loss.
