River Otters Spotted in Bonney Lake Storm Pond

River Otter

A pair of river otters were spotted taking a swim in a storm pond near the Willowbrook neighborhood in Bonney Lake. As a precaution, we reached out to the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife for guidance. We found out that although seldom seen, river otters are relatively common throughout Washington in ponds, lakes, rivers, sloughs, estuaries, bays, and in open waters along the coast.

The Department of Fish & Wildlife has a web page dedicated to living with wildlife, including river otters, at http://wdfw.wa.gov/living/river_otters.html.
